It's even worse at flamenco shows, you know, where the difficult compases are the norms. I've been studying the guitar for a couple of years now and keep quiet most of the time at a show because I can barely do palmas; when people in the audience who don't know better clap along seeing the performers doing palmas, I've heard they can really throw off the dancers and guitarists! Hope it's not the same for you guys ;)
It's all good, we were just having some fun during sound check. I love it when the audience participates in any way shape or form. Well, unless they are trying to grab my guitar while I'm playing it. The audience last night was awesome!
