Last few days -

Just pulling into to Portland. Looks like it's cold outside, saw a bunch of people wearing jackets on the way in.

Nice shows at the Nugget Casino the last few nights. Great conversations with some fans afterwards.

The show in Fresno was great as well. Although during the performance, I noticed that a part of my nail chipped off and started snagging on the strings, total drag when that happens. Had to quickly switch to using my thumb to play the counter melody in Sao Paulo. I've made sure that I have a nail file sitting next to me during the show incase that happens again.

I've noticed that my 007 Casino Royal Dvd has been quite popular on the bus!

Watched a bit of From Russia with Love this morning. For me, Connery is Bond. I suppose I should give the latest incarnation a try.

Great Movie. Yeah, I agree, Connery is the best of course. But this new guy is great! I think it's one of the best Bond movies I've ever seen.

Matt, what abour Roger Moore?

Stephen who is the latest Bond, Dalton or Brosnan?

stephen duros said...

Anna,

The latest Bond is Daniel Craig.

Pierce Brosnan's last Bond movie was "Die Another Day" back in 2002

I love Casino Royale. It's a different Bond, a different approach but great. I adore Parkour. That's the sport some banlieue youngsters "invented" in France when no other place to play. Parkour is the chase in the beginning of the movie. In some parts typically Bond-exaggerated but it's more or less what they are doing. Appears as if they can walk up walls. Saw two guys jumping around a parc in Paris some years back. the elegance is impressive.

The new Bond is Daniel Craig, by the way.

... Anna, Daniel Craig is the first "blond Bond".....always gossip... but nice

stephen duros said...

Wow, i should start a 007 forum here!

stephen duros said...

Ok, here is a good Bond trivia question:

Where does the number 007 come from?

Anna said...

Steven, thank you :-)

I am a bit behind in my James Bond movies. I think I lost interest when Brosnan appeared as Bond.

Looks like I will have to watch a few new Bond Movies...

Gudrun, thank you!! Now I know who Daniel Craig is. :-)

I'm not sure:
00 = License to kill
7 = number of the agent ???...

stephen duros said...

Nope, good try though, anyone else want to take a guess?

MT Callahan said...

Anna, Roger Moore. Sorry, don't think so :) Looks like you might need to start up a forum indeed. Was ths the answer you were looking for?

In supposed reality, Queen Elizabeth I had agents that reported to her using the "00" prefix which indicated an "eyes only" message.

Ian Fleming picked the number 7 for the Bond character as a reference to luck.

007

Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond, followed by Sean Connery. The worst ever was Roger Moore. I mean even I could have beaten him up... and I mean in the morning, hungover and before coffee... in my underwear with slippers... you get the idea...

In case you missed that in my last comment:

Here is what I think the 7 stands for.

Correctomundo Ottmar!! Nice Job.

You WIN a free signed Thira Album!!!

Have a nice day :)

Anna said...

Looks like no one likes Roger Moore!
I was surprised that he appeared in more Bond Movies then Connery.
For the fans of Daniel Craig, it looks like he will appear in another Bond Movie...

Ottmar, congratulations on winning a fantastic prize :-)

okay first off, ottmar...you suck! you're a very knowledgeable man and the fact that you got that right isn't fair!

second, i must agree with you. even though i like sean connery i think this Bond is the best i've ever seen...at least in my generation. daniel craig was an amazing choice and major props for the dedication and focus of that actor to bring Bond to a modern theatre...good shit!

...and for a solo act it'd be nice to see you stop by santa monica for a little private showing/publicity for the independent artist.

name on radio, promote website...hmmm...hmmm?

Never liked Roger Moore as Bond either but sometimes I wonder if it was him or the stupid stories that he was starring in as Bond.

But the Bond movies always were children of their time, no? Moore was very popular back then because of that series he had done with Tony Curtis (don't remember the English title now). And I also remember going to cinema with my parents to see "Octopussy". The cinema was full and everybody was thrilled. Willy Bogner choreographing the ski chases in the beginning of the 80s!

Well, I always thought to like Dalton's "Living Daylights" until I watched it again some weeks back. Maybe I shouldn't have done that with "Casino Royale" and Daniel Craig being present! But, you know, Myriam d'Abo was such a cutie as cello player.......... :)

Lucky to have grabbed my signed Thira copy in Munich earlier this year, ha!

OK, I'm laughing my ass off at the thought of Ottmar slugging it out with Roger Moore. In slippers or not.

Wow, this certainly seems to be a popular post here. I think I'm going to have to co-sign along with everyone here as I'm not much of a Roger Moore fan either.

Well, Daniel Craig better be in the next Bond movie otherwise I'm gonna to have to write my local congressmen!

Listening to the Borrasca album and the song 1st Rain - Cry Of Faith just came on. A beautiful piece.

MT Callahan said...

Seems you've hit a popular subject here Stephen.

I can listen to 1st Rain - Cry Of Faith over and over and not loose the feeling it gives you. Amazing stuff.

Unfortunately I have nothing to contribute to the 007 discussion since I haven't watched any of the movies from beginning to end. :)

But I had the iPod playing on random a couple of days ago, and 1st Rain - Cry of Faith came on at the same time I was reading a poem from one of my old school notebooks. Definitely a beautiful song. I thought the mood of the poem and the song matched so well. I'll post a picture of the poem and translation on my Flickr account later on.

stephen duros said...

Yes, that song definately has magic to it. It's easy to visualize while listening.

Getting back to the Bond thing quickly, I'm frustraited that they are selling the DVD's in sets that are all mixed. You can't just get the Connery selctions etc.. I think it's because they know some DVD's just wouldn't sell, I won't name any names here (Moonraker). I think they mixed them all up so you HAVE to buy them all. Please let me know if anyone else has picked up on this?

New Bond trivia question:

Connery filmed the Bond movie Never Say Never Again. It came out at the same time Roger Moore's Bond movie came out. Can anyone answer what movie it was? And no Googling the answer!

stephen duros said...

P.S. Unfortunately no prizes for answering this question.

Gudrun said...

oh, :( no "free hug" at least?!

Gudrun said...

Ottmar, congratulation!

Well, with "Thira" you're listening AT LAST fantastic music! ;) ;) ;)
